How To Clean Your Custom Embroidered Patches
We all want to keep our things nice and clean for long periods of time. Many items require TLC and attention especially when things get a little dirty already. Your custom embroidered patches also need the love and care they need. Since they are just fabric, dirt can easily penetrate and stain your patches.
It is important to properly clean and store embroidered patches and garments to keep them brand new and usable for a very long time. Although patches don’t get dirty easily, over time they will accumulate dust and before you know it, they already look old and maybe a little brownish. Here are a few tips on how to clean them.
Hand Wash Gently
When you feel like it’s already time to take those patches to the bath, soak them for about 15 to 20 minutes in cold water with a little detergent. Hand wash them gently and do not rub too much. Don’t put them in the washing machine, as they their threads might get tangled with other garments.
Soak, Don’t Scrub
Don’t scrub your embroidered patches like rubbing the fabric together or using a brush. This can damage not only the embroidery threads but the base fabric as well, causing a furry appearance.
Remove Stains Carefully
If you have unfortunately stained your patches with sauces, grease, blood, rust, for instance, use a rust remover made for home laundry. Use a cotton with the solution and gently swab directly on the stain and soak in water. Repeat the steps until the stain is removed.
Dry your patches flat on an old sheet or towel. Don’t fold o scrunch them so as not to damage their shape.
